We attended the afternoon cooking class, it was just me and my boyfriend and we had such a good time! Ann is lovely and she clearly knows her trade very well. Ann picked us up at our accommodation in Chiang Rai, we went to a market to buy the ingredients first and then we spent about 3.5 hours preparing and sampling the dishes. We also tried some Thai fruit and Ann made a delicious herbal tea.
Make sure to be hungry, there's plenty of food! You can choose any 4 dishes, Ann remembers the recipes and she'll email you the ones you made after the class.
Would definitely recommend!
I had the most wonderful time in this class. I decided I wanted to learn how to make some Thai recipes to share with my friends and family back home. I was very lucky, because I emailed Ann very spontaneously and she luckily still had an opening. She collected me from my hostel and we went to the market first. I could just name what I wanted to cook - she is very flexible - and she explained everything I wanted to know. The cooking itself was fun and we had delicious, fresh fruit snacks and tea. She has a lovely kitchen with everything you could ever need. Also it tasted AMAZING! (Since I struggle a bit with very spicy food I could adjust the amount of chili, which was great ;) It was one of my favorite days on my whole journey. I would do it again any time! Thank you so much!
We found Ann very knowledgeable and freindly and coped very well with our demands during our ten day intensive course. As a chef I was very happy to see Ann more than cope with all our questions and necessities over the duration of our lessons. Her abilities are great and she has prepared me with all I need for my work.
I believe Ann would be a great teacher for cooks at any level due to her patient and friendly character.
We had a wonderful time with Ann. She's so warm, friendly, and a great instructor! We got to pick 4 dishes to make and then Ann took us to the local market to pick up ingredients for the dishes. Ann can also accommodate any dietary needs and customize any dish to your liking since all the ingredients are bought fresh from the market. She even got us some extra fruit to have for snacks later, and showed us some local fruit that we got to try for the first time. During the class Ann noticed that my friend and I were a little sick and made us some tea and gave us some traditional Thai medicine for our coughs.
After the market Ann took us back to her place where we got to prepare the meals. The food we made was amazing and was the best Thai food I had during my trip! We got to take home our leftovers (there was a lot) with containers Ann provided. Another plus is that Ann is very environmentally friendly and avoids plastic! She used banana leaves to line the paper containers and brought her own cloth shopping bag to the market.
If you're looking to do a cooking class in Chiang Rai I highly recommend Ann's class!
Ann was amazing! We had such a wonderful experience with her! She spoke English very well and had a great understanding of the dietary restrictions my friend and I presented. We made all gluten free and kosher dishes! We made a tofu pad Thai, panang curry with fish, mango salad with pumpkin, and banana leaves with banana and sticky rice inside that were to die for!!
Ann showed us how to do everything and made cooking fun and easy! We went to the market with her to pick out all of our groceries and Ann was so patient answering all of our questions about each item we saw! I highly recommend coming here if you’re a good chef, a bad chef, an inexperienced cook- all of it! I am a terrible cook and Ann showed me that I’m not terrible at it and now I can easily make these dishes at home!! 10/10!!!
